I’ve definitely talked about stripes. I love them. But this is a new kind of stripe. Slightly off kilter, not linear. It’s a hallmark of a certain type of design. It’s all about creating a contrast between short lines and sloping curves. It’s classic americana meets mid-century architectural. Which made shooting this look several years back outside the Guggenheim a perfect match.
The story I had back then, but was about a chic art advisor, stopping in to see her favorite piece between lunch at Sant Ambroues (she ordered a glass of white wine and the Carciofi salad) and meetings with important clients on the Upper East Side. She needs to look professional, and serious for meetings but still wants to have fun with her look. The shoes are easy to walk in, but still show off her cute pedicure. Her bag holds all her notes and essentials as she’s running around the city for the day. But it’s still cute enough for evening, when she meets her not-quite-a-boyfriend who works in finance for dinner at Le Bilboquet (knowing she needs some energy for the rest of her evening, she orders the cajun chicken, obviously).
Dare to dream, Uptown Girl.
