Trench coat with a twist
I love trench coats. I bought my first one, from Burberry at age 17, and wore that thing everywhere. I’ve only just upgraded to another tan one in the last couple of years, because the style was so old, that they didn’t have the buttons anymore, which had kept falling off. But, as I’ve grown up and started to get more comfortable with my style, finding special ones is extra fun. Enter this tartan one, from the Fall 2017 collection, that just makes an outfit all on it’s own, by simply existing.
I love this coat so much. I shot this look back in 2018. And it’s just a perfect look. Obviously with a statement coat, but statement coats have shown us they’re all the more important after a year of quarantine and outdoor dining. Plus, give me anything in plaid. Always. Especially a Royal Stewart Tartan (a little bit of fashion history! It’s actually the personal Tartan of the Queen of England. Maybe one day I’ll do a whole breakdown on different tartans). It feels a bit christmas-y sometimes, but put over a simple outfit like a black turtleneck and skinny jeans (which are so not dead whatever TikTok tells you) and accented with metallic and textured accessories to keep it neutral but still exciting. This is a look for you. I remember wearing this look out during the before times to go dancing at this great bar in Chinatown on a rainy night, and it just felt like super Main Character Energy. But that is what good confidence and good fashion can do for you.
XOXO
